Undergraduate Public Health Student Government (PHUSG)

The Undergraduate Student Government facilitates and encourages the interests and activities of all undergraduate students in Newcomb-Tulane College. The group plans roundtable discussions, social activities, fundraisers, and Public Health Week – a celebration of public health including information on staying healthy, food, guest speakers, and activities. PHUSG works to better the public health experience on campus and supports TUA. Interested students may apply and go through an interview process for the following positions:  freshmen representative, junior representative, senior representative, events chair, communications chair, and alumni chair.

Public Health Society (PHS)

The Tulane University Public Health Society was founded in the Spring of 2006. Our mission is to create a vibrant community within the Tulane Undergraduate School of Public Health. We aim to raise awareness about public health issues both on and off campus, explore what public health means at Tulane and in New Orleans, and provide opportunities for involvement, community service, and fun activities. Our goal is to connect undergraduate students of all majors and those interested in the public health field through panels, speakers, and networking opportunities.

Global Health Collaborative (GHC)

This organization is currently inactive. Please contact us if you would like to recharter.

The Global Health Collaborative aims to create a community for both undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in getting involved with the field of global health. Opportunities to get involved will include seminars and workshops on how to start your global health career as well as campus involvement. We want to provide a platform for students to discuss and learn about global health and its advancements.

Culinary Medicine Initiative 

The Culinary Medicine Initiative aims to provide a community interested in exploring the links between food and health. Monthly meetings range from volunteering at the Goldring Center for Medicine to gathering and cooking a shared meal together.

Harm Education, Awareness, and Reduction at Tulane (HEART) 

HEART is committed to providing accessible, anonymous, non-judgmental, and empirically based harm reduction and overdose prevention and response resources and support strategies to Tulane students and uptown New Orleans. HEART provides both accessible educational resources surrounding harm reduction as well as life-saving harm reduction materials.

Healthcare Policy Club 

The Healthcare Policy Club is dedicated to exploring the different facets of healthcare policy and its impact on individuals, communities, and the future of healthcare. This organization promotes learning about healthcare, public policy, or social justice, and membership is open to all students. Through group discussions and guest speakers, our members gain valuable knowledge about healthcare policy, post-graduate trajectories, and career opportunities while connecting with fellow students, current Tulane faculty members, and professionals in the field.

Infectious Disease Research Club 

The Infectious Disease Research Club aims to bring together undergraduates to discuss relevant infectious diseases, their public health consequences, and research applications. Members will work to execute research projects pertaining to relevant infectious diseases, discuss current disease outbreaks, and discuss journal articles pertaining to epidemiological research.

National Alliance on Mental Illness 

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is the largest grassroots mental health organization in the country. NAMI at Tulane is dedicated to tackling mental health issues, raising awareness, and promoting services and resources available to students.

Sexual Aggression Peer Hotline and Education (SAPHE) 

Application Needed? Yes, apply by October 11th, 2026 

SAPHE is a group of trained students dedicated to supporting survivors of sexual violence, addressing rape culture on campus, and connecting peers with resources. Members of SAPHE receive an initial 40hour training and 20 additional hours of training each year to increase their knowledge and skills surrounding trauma informed care, empathetic listening, violence prevention, and more. SAPHE is a departmental organization associated with Tulane University Campus Health’s The Well for Health Promotion.

Students Against Food Insecurity (SAFI) 

SAFI works to combat food insecurity on campus and the greater New Orleans area. As an organization, SAFI runs and operates a community food pantry, advocates and educates about food insecurity, and hosts food recoveries to reduce waste through the Tulane University Food Recovery Networks (TUFRN).

Tulane for Every Body 

Tulane For Every Body is a student organization dedicated to sparking and holding conversations surrounding health, body image, and body respect. Fill out the interest form in order to be added tothe GroupMe and participate in club meetings, outreach, and workshops! Signature events include “Smash the Scale,” advocacy tabling, and their body positivity workshop.

Tulane Global Health Alliance (TUGHA) is a global health organization working to bridge the gap between interests in global health and meaningful engagement within the field. Members of TUGHA participate in a flagship global health project, engage with resources for professional development, and form connections with guest speakers.

Tulane University Peer Health Educators 

Application Needed? Yes, apply by September 14th, 2026 

The Tulane University Peer Health Educators (TUPHEs) are NASPA certified peer educators dedicated to promoting resources and harm reduction strategies. Core focuses of the TUPHE program include nutrition, mental health and wellbeing, sexual violence prevention, sexual health, and alcohol and other drugs. Signature events include weekly “Live Well Hut” tabling, harm reduction and educational workshops, and large-scale collaborative events with The Well for Health Promotion and other student organizations! TUPHE also assists with The Well for Health Promotion initiatives, such as the “Stall Street Journal” and distribution of free and accessible menstrual and safer sex supplies around campus. TUPHE is a departmental organization associated with Tulane University Campus Health’s The Well for Health Promotion.

Tulane University Performing Arts Medicine Society 

TuPAMS is an organization dedicated to learning about Performing Arts Medicine. We will host guest lectures and even participate in health education workshops for the musicians and performers of New Orleans through the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic.

Women of Public Health is a network of public health students dedicated to sharing experiences and expertise across different public health industries and interests. The group hosts guest speakers who share their challenges and successes along their journey to professional growth in the public healthfield. Women of Public Health offers a supportive network committed to empowering and uplifting women in the field of public health both through the community it fosters as well as opportunities for internships and networking.
